Mark Formosa, Conservative Spokesman for Taunton, has expressed amazement at reports that Taunton’s MP Jeremy Browne is supporting terrorist organisation HAMAS through an Early Day Motion in Parliament.
Jeremy Browne, who only narrowly won the seat at the last election, is reported to have aligned himself with the likes of Respect MP George Galloway and others.
The EDM, which is the Parliamentary equivalent to a petition, calls for the release of British taxpayers’ money for HAMAS, which is now in government in Palestine.
Mark Formosa said: “It is extremely foolish and, frankly, wrong to support a terrorist organisation that is responsible for suicide bombings inside Israel and other atrocities against civilians.
“Perhaps he thought that the money was needed to house and clothe the poverty-stricken Palestinians.”
“However, those people seldom benefit from outside support because of corruption within their State and the fact that the money is all too often used instead to buy arms.
“Sadly Taunton’s MP Jeremy Browne is showing his inexperience and a complete lack of strength by siding with the likes of George Galloway - the Big Brother embarrassment and friend of Saddam Hussein.”
“This move by Jeremy Browne is an act of weakness and appeasement.
“While I would be the first to applaud genuine humanitarian efforts to bring relief from poverty not just for the Palestinian people but for all peoples around the world, we should not appease terrorists.”
